Swamp Monster

This morning Amy took me for a walk at Hidden Pond Nature Center. We hadn’t been there in a while so I really had fun walking along the paths, we had forgotten how many trails they have that wind through the woods. Towards the end of our visit, we meandered around the pond and went down to one of the decks overlooking the water. After a very hot summer with not a whole lot of rain, this is what the pond looks like:

Not exactly the cleanest water in the world, but unlike the scary ocean, it wasn’t moving so I jumped in and when I came out, I looked like this:

Needless to say, Amy was quite unhappy when I finally made my way out of the water. I was actually surprised when I first jumped in the water, I didn’t realize I couldn’t stand so it took a while for us to figure out how to get me out since I couldn’t climb back on the platform. Anyway, we rushed immediately to Amy’s parents’ house where I received an impromptu bath in the driveway, at that point, I was less than happy.

The PetTube

As some of you may or may not know, Amy drives a little two-door car. When she bought it, she didn’t know she’d have a 45 lb border collie one day who would have to ride around in the backseat. Recently, I’ve gotten more nervous riding in the car, feeling the need to bark at things like buses and trucks, bikes and people so she’s been on the lookout for a crate that can actually fit in the back of the car.

After a long, previously unsuccessful search, she finally found this, the PetTube!

Um, Amy, it doesn’t really look like I can fit in it, it’s not very wide.

Ooooh, there’s a zipper and when you unzip it, it pops open! It’s like an agility tunnel, one that actually fits into the back seat of 2 door compact car!

It’s a little tricky to get in because, well, her car only has 2 doors, but we’ve figured out a way and here I am.

And here I am once the PetTube is all zipped up. So far, it’s worked really well. I didn’t bark once during any of the car rides this weekend. I can just get into my PetTube and relax, I don’t have to worry about everything happening outside of the car…aaaah.

Coconut Papaya Mango Treats

I might have mentioned before that Pam, one of the trainers at All About Dogs (where Amy is a trainer and where I have taken classes for almost 4 years), calls me Mango Papaya. Well, one day Amy was checking one of our favorite online sites when she found mango papaya treats so of course she had to buy it.

Tada! Coconut Cruncher’s Papaya Mango treats.

According to the bag, dogs should love it because we love the taste of coconut.

Well, I’ll be the judge of whether or not I like it. I am quite the picky eater. Let me give this a sniff.

This is what one of the treats looks likes.

Okay, here’s the big taste test…

….and?! I didn’t eat it. Like I said, I’m a very picky eater. I have eaten them though, Amy puts them in my Kong before she leaves for work, put a little peanut butter and cheese on it and I’ll scarf it down.
